Lighting a path to overcoming grief

Terri Hardin

In 2012, my mother passed away from liver cancer. Although painful, and at times overwhelming, this loss contributed to my commitment to helping others. I drew inspiration from the Hospice workers tending to my mom, observing their deep empathy and care. Watching them, admiring their passion, these men and women were instrumental to my decision to make grief and trauma support my lifelong work. That led me to attending Grand Canyon University and recieving a Masters Degree in Clinical Counseling. Prior to becoming a counselor, I worked as a social worker and mental health technician at inpatient and outpatient facilities.

I primarly focus on therapy for grief, bereavement and trauma, but I'm also available to help with anxiety, attachment issues, body positivity, depression, end of life concerns, LGBTQA+ related issues, life transitions, OCD, panic & anxiety disorders, sexuality, spirituality, women's issues and communication issues. My approach to therapy is that it needs to be flexible and form to each individual as best as it can and as such I employ many methodologies to find the ones that work best for each person. Primarily focusing on techniques such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectic Behavior Therapy, Person Centered Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.

I am a member of the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC) and have vast resources and connections available to help anyone who is suffering with loss or sadness. Even more importantly, I have the compassion to help.
